End all bank financing of prisons
Beneficial State strives toward an ideal of “benefit to all, harm to none,” which is why we firmly oppose practices and industries that profit from the punishment of people.
Due to well-documented abusive practices, minimal evidence of rehabilitation, and the criminal justice system’s failure to adequately address historic and present racial discrimination, Beneficial State Bank does not provide loans, products or services to any entity involved in the prison industry.
Beneficial State Foundation is proud to support grassroots efforts to move money out of prisons and back into low-income communities that have suffered from disinvestment. Below you’ll find more information about our work supporting prison divestment efforts:
- Perspective: Divesting from prisons to invest in communities
- Perspective: The Green New Deal is a chance to address big banks who are financing climate destruction and mass incarceration
